Feb 5, 1949 - Jun 13, 2016 In the early morning hours of June 13th, Jonathon "Jon" Pendergrass passed away in the comfort of his home. Jon was a brilliant mind, coupled with an indelibly hard-working spirit. He never failed to impress with his wit, and the work ethic ingrained in him through his...

Not sure what to say?

Jon and I were high school friends as boarding students at St. Stephen's Episcopal School outside of Austin and re-established our friendship again at Rice University where we both played soccer after I began playing the beautiful game (though not nearly as well as Jon). We lost touch with one another over the years after he went on to medical school, and I was not aware of his passing until seeing the notice in a recent alumni publication from Rice. I am deeply saddened to learn of it but...

Dr. Pendergrass helped me, back in March 1991. Years later, went back to him for another surgery. Had the opportunity to Thank Him again for what He did for me years ago. Dr. Pendergrass was Blessed in Life, Prayed for Him all these years and Praying for His Family. A Great Man. Thank You Dr. Pendergrass, God Bless You.

Many years ago, my husband and I had several small children and our only source of income was from the small cabinet shop that we owned and operated in Mobile County. One morning, my husband cut his hand severely and I had to take him to the hospital. By Divine Providence, Dr. Pendergrass was the surgeon they called in to see him. When he saw that we had no insurance, he did the surgery there in the ER rather than the OR. When we followed up with him at his office, he devised a "tendon"...

He was brilliant and wonderful to patients and staff alike. It was a an honor and pleasure to work with Dr. Pendergrass @ Providence Hospital.

My condolences to his family. He was a great doctor and I really enjoyed working with him. An honorable man!

You will be missed! My prayers are with the Pendergrass family at this time. I will always have many fond memories growing up in the Pendergrass household in Mobile.

May God give comfort to those he leaves behind.

Dr.Pendergrass was one of the best in his field. I was his patient for two different reasons during my acquaintance with him. My daughter, also, found his kind and gentle bedside manner to be equally second to non. We will miss him, and will look forward to our next encounter up above.

What a gain for Heaven. An Angel was among us, a kind spirit,a giver with a heart bigger than Texas, Thank you for your many gifts to me and my family
