Jorge Arnoldo Garcia of Harlingen, TX gained his angel wings on February 8, 2022, he was 71 years old. Jorge was born in Harlingen on March 2, 1950 to Mario and Claudia Garcia.


Jorge was a proud graduate of Harlingen High School, class of 1969. Since 2012, he co-sponsored several multi-class reunions where many friends still have a close bond. "Cardinal Spirit never dies."


Right after high school, Jorge joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He proudly served for a combined 22 years. He had one tour in Da Nang, Vietnam in 1970-1971 1st Marine Division. He served as a driver for the chaplain. In 1991, he was sent to Tustin, CA to cover for Desert Shield. He was the chief cook in the mess hall. After three months, the war ended and he was honorably discharged in May 1991 as a Gunnery Sargent. Jorge has had the privilege of meeting with his Vietnam buddies every two years in Washington DC, Minnesota, and California.


Jorge was pre-ceded in death by his parents, Mario and Claudia Garcia, brother, Mario Garcia, Jr and brother-in-law, Vicente Ortiz.


He is survived by his wife, Terisa Garcia, daughters, Melisa Garcia (Eric Siebert), Monica Garcia (Victor Bresofski), step-daughter, Crystal Mayberry (Derick Jackson), three brothers, Ignacio Garcia (Frances), Raul Garcia (Arminda), and Luis Garcia. Two sisters, Mary Garcia (Juan Longoria) and Dr. Anna Garcia. Of these siblings all three brothers and Dr. Anna Garcia proudly served our country in the Army.


He had nine grandchildren, Brittany Glaze, Aundrea Borski, Kamryn Calderon, Nicholas Siebert, Sarah Siebert, Brett Bresofski, Bryce Bresofski, Madison Jackson, and Dominic Jackson. He also had four great-grandchildren, Zayne Glaze, Thomas Boyett, Emilia Dean, and Delilah Boyett. He had many other nieces, nephews, relatives in Mexico and friends.


Jorge was an active, proud member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 121, the American Legion Post 205, and Wreaths across America. In lieu of flowers, please donate on his behalf to one of those organizations or a non-profit of your choice.


Visitation will be at Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home at 1002 East Harrison Ave, Harlingen, Texas 78550. Services for the family Friday, 2/11from 5-9, Saturday, 2/12 from 1-9 to his many friends and family. Rosary will be bilingual at 5:00 p.m. with a celebration of life from 6-9. Sunday, 2/13 services at Trinity begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be Tuesday, 2/15 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Veterans Cemetery. Paul bearers will be: brothers, Ignacio Garcia, Raul Garcia and Luis Garcia, nephew Luis Garcia (Cito), grandsons Brett Bresofski and Bryce Bresofski.

Jorge was an amazing neighbor, one we missed when we moved. Jon loved to tease him about being a Marine and Jorge would come back with Army jokes. He will be missed by many. Our love goes out to Terry and his family. Remember the good times, the fun times, the silly times. Fly high Jorge, fly high

Uncle Jorge was always a kind and supportive uncle. He would babysit my brother and I growing up and always came out to my sporting events to cheer me on. I will always cherish those great memories we had together. May you rest in peace.
