Dr. Gonzalez was my attending physician in 2000 for my lifesaving liver transplant. He was my rock- he simply would not let me give up, and I always appreciated his humor. It's been 23-1/2 years since my transplant, and my memories of him still live in my memory. There's a beautiful biblical passage that describes him perfectly: "The upright man walks in his integrity" (Proverbs 20:7). We will say the Rosary for Dr. Mario today, and for all who love him. Dr. Gonzalez was my attending physician in 2000 when I survived a lifesaving liver transplant. I still think of him often. He was always encouraging. Once, after he had extracted a few liters of fluid from my lungs, he joked: "See. I helped you lose weight. Now you're 31 pounds lighter!". I laughed. I rotated through the Critical Care unit as a medical student and saw the features that everyone describes here - his energy, gentleness, compassion seemed to be endless. We say humble, and he was, but it was really a bold display of a caring and gracious man. To think of him being gone is unbelievably sad. Dr. Mario J Gonzalez were a special person and a special doctor, always walked with smile he is surely missed. It was always a pleasant experience to work with him. May god bless him and every member of his family.

I would just like to say that the loss of this special doctor and human being has hurt our whole family. Our heart also goes out to his family and his brother,Dr.Juan Gonzalez. Our mother was fortunate to have both of these special doctors take care of her. They are both a class act.

May god bless Dr.Gonzalez each and every family member of his. I had a pleasure of meeting him in Dunn 3 SICU unit.He would always be smiling as he walked in to the unit,saying good morning everybody and that will be surely be missed.our prayers go out to all of you.
