Jorge Luis Salcedo lost his courageous battle with cancer on September 3, 2015. Services will include viewing on Monday, 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Rosary, Tuesday at 6:00 pm at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, 2301 N Sylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76111. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00 am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 2635 Burchill Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76105 with burial to follow. Jorge was a strong, hardworking, family man who was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer in June 2015. He faced this diagnosis like he did his life with strength, courage and faith with his loving wife Maria by his side every step of the way. When first diagnosed, the doctors suggested 3 set of chemotherapy treatments, each set composed of 5 days. The treatments were difficult yet he and Maria faced all the obstacles with faith and hope. Maria never faltered in her support or faith in God during this difficult time. Jorge was born on December 6, 1974 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to loving parents Alicia and Angel Salcedo. He met his wife Maria in 2002. They were introduced by a family friend at a dance club. Jorge loved to dance and soon was in love with Maria as well. They married on July 10, 2004 surrounded by family and friends. They have been married 11 years. They have two beautiful children, Adrian, 10 years old and Sofia, 4 years old. His family was the most important thing to him and he did everything he could to show that love every day. Jorge was a self-employed painter and handyman. He was always helping others and going the extra mile. He did great work and was able to provide for his family. He devoted to his family and always was there for them. He had not been able to work full time since March when his symptoms first began. Since he was self- employed, he was not able to bring in an income. Due to this illness and financial difficulties, they moved into Maria's parent's home. There they all rallied together as a family to face this diagnosis and support Jorge. Jorge was a generous and caring man. He was surrounded by family and friends who loved him and Maria dearly. These family members gathered together to raise funds since Jorge did not have insurance. There were weekly taco sales, a Go Fund page and an account at Wells Fargo. This family is loved. Jorge loved the Lord and was at peace at the end. This does not make it easier for us left behind but we take comfort that he is pain free and joyful now. Jorge fought the great fight, like he faced everything in his life. If you knew him, you were blessed. He had a smile that would light up a room. There was no better look on his face than when he was looking at his wife and children. That is the face we will remember when we think of him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Maria Gomez-Salcedo, his children, Adrian David Salcedo and daughter, Yeraldin Sofia Salcedo, his parents, Alicia and Angel Salcedo, brothers, José Eduardo Salcedo, Miguel Ángel Salcedo, sisters, Alma Leticia Salcedo, María Elena Salcedo, Araceli Juana Salcedo and many loving friends and family.

I have known Jorge for 7 years as I had worked with his wife Maria for that time. As others have said, the love Jorge had for his family was always evident. When he did some work around the Council, I used to tease him and say, "Get to work." He was ALWAYS working!! The time he spent with his family at baseball games, being with Adrian at his baseball games and seeing him interact with Adrian's friends as well. It showed me there are still good family men out there. I owe Jorge a lot for the...

I had the pleasure of getting to know Maria while working at RRC. She was always so sweet and helpful :) One day Maria introduced me to her husband Jorge and her 2 children and I could tell how happy their family was. Everytime Jorge came up to the office he was so nice and always had a huge smile on his face. Maria, I hope that you can now find comfort in the fact that the love of your life is no longer hurting and can rest with peace. Sending positive love & light to you and your entire...

I met Jorge when he and Maria were at Walmart, I could see that he was so in love with Maria and his children. May he rest in peace and may God help Maria and her children cope with this very sad part of life. My most sincere condolences to his whole family.
