Jose was a wonderful soul--he was funny, irreverent, and brilliant. I learned a lot about teaching from him. I'm grateful that I had him for a professor, and I am also grateful that I was able to study with his wife, Catherine Lord. Professor Lord: I'm so sorry to hear this news. He was much admired and loved. Marianne Janack

Jose Benardete was one of the most inspiring philosophy professors we ever encountered, as was his wife Catherine. We both vividly remember Jose holding forth at our respective dissertation defenses. Our heartfelt best wishes to Catherine.
