JOSE JESUS FLORES, 83, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 24, 1927 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Francisco and Celia Gomez Flores. Mr. Flores served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, where he earned the Purple Heart Medal. He was also decorated with the United Nations Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal, 2nd Award. After his military service he worked as a construction worker. Mr. Flores was a proud U.S Marine, great husband, father, and step-father and loved all his family. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Carmen Flores and family; a son, Valentin Flores of Utah and a daughter, Sandra Flores Martinez of San Diego, California; a brother, Tony Flores of Florida and a sister, Maria del Refugio de Leon of Corpus Christi, Texas. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Stephanie Flores, Jorge Martinez and Cesar Martinez and three great-grandchildren as well numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings. Visitation for Mr. Flores will begin at 6 PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Cremation will follow and a Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in Sierra Vista Community Church, 514 N. Telshor Blvd. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date. Military honors will be accorded by a Marine Corps Honor Guard.
