JOSE E.DA GRACA Sr.

GRACA SR., JOSE E.DA November 13,1915 to May 1, 2012 Jose was born in Fuseta, Portugal on November 13, 1915. He came to San Diego when he was 15 years old. He began fishing in the San Diego tuna industry at 16 years of age. He soon became a Navigator, then a Captain/ Master, and eventually owned his own boat (Belle of Portugal). He worked in the tuna industry for 44 years, retiring in 1975. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clotilia, of 71 years. He is survived by his only son Jose Jr. (Clarisse), two grandchildren, and four great-grand-children. He died peacefully in his sleep watching his Padres. A special thank you goes out to Apreva Hospice for their loving care of Jose in his last difficult days. A small family service will be held at Goodbody's Mortuary Chapel (El Cajon Blvd.) on May 11th at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Apreva Hospice (Hotel Circle South, Suite 320, San Diego 92108).
