I met Jose Melis only once, at an outdoor concert on the grounds of Connecticut General (I think) in Connecticut, which I attended with Suzanne and others from CML. I had not known how great his many accomplishments were, having only seen him on the Tonight Show. I was most impressed, however, by his easy charm and openness. I enjoyed a very pleasant - tho brief - chat with him that I remember to this day. For Suzanne and the family, my heartfelt condolences.

In tribute to my grandfather I would just like to say that your music lives on in the hearts of all those whose lives you touched. Especially mine. Pop Pop you will be missed but your spirit is free and I know you are all around me and you are there in every piano key I hear. Soar to the heavens Pop and go catch Momma.
Always,
Your Grandson
