A Celebration of His Life will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Cox-Smith Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of service. The family asks that you dress in Hawkeye apparel.

Joe was born on March 31, 1956, the son of Charles and Virginia (Zwer) Crouse in Ottumwa, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Ottumwa High School. Joe worked for UPS and then Manatt’s; becoming Assistant Plant Manager and driver. On October 10, 1992, he married Regina Nevitt at the Little Brown Church. Joe liked listening to KGGO and 70’s music. His family claims Joe always cheated playing Cribbage, UNO and Scrabble. He enjoyed slots, NASCAR and the occasional Budweiser; and of course a huge Hawkeye fan! Every memory of Joe will be treasured.

He will be missed by his wife, Gina, of Grinnell; children, Robert “BJ” Mattson Jr, of Grinnell, Elizabeth (Dustin) Bos of Newton, Eric (Sarah) Mattson of Knoxville and Jordan (Sandra) Crouse of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Ashley, Jaimie, Steven Eric, Joey, Dylan, Parker and Bennett; several great grandchildren; his siblings, Merry (Tim) Prentis of Naples, Florida, Tom Crouse of Ottumwa, Deanna Crouse of Ottumwa and Denise (Bill) MacQueen of Bloomfield, Iowa; and his best friend, Kiki the cat.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Robbin Crouse.
