Family Came First

There were hundreds of telephones at the bond-trading firm of Cantor Fitzgerald and it was Joe Romagnolo's job to keep them working.

Mr. Romagnolo, 37, had a knack for troubleshooting. He was the foreman. But his wife, Sandy, and their four children came first. They lived in Coram, on Long Island. He and his wife, whom he had known since childhood, went to Disney World for their honeymoon; their taste in music ran from heavy metal to Glenn Miller.

Mr. Romagnolo's father, Sal, was a phone technician and got him started in the business. He lived near his father and his mother, Maria; his sister Michele was nearby, too, and often helped out with his children.

Joe Romagnolo wore an American eagle belt buckle and insisted on buying only American-made products. He drove a Dodge pickup truck and rooted for the Yankees and the Giants, and his best friends were the guys he grew up with. He hunted deer with his brother Steven and rode his Harley-Davidson alone. But he had decided to sell the bike. The brothers were both going to buy house trailers so they could take outings with their wives and children.

Not sure what to say?

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. Miss you guys.

Sending our continued deep sympathy to your family. Words will never remove the pain of loss but know that others still do care. Joe is still missed very much and will not be forgotten. Daily may God give the help needed.

On this 18th anniversary, I share your story with my students as I do each year. I hope that they are inspired to be better people, knowing that life can be shorter than we planned. I pray for peace in your hearts and peace in the world. May you always know that on this day especially, your family is remembered with love and fondness.... God bless all of you!

The years pass and your memory remains indelible. It always will be.

Your next-door neighbor...

Years pass, but memories never fade. I pray for your family and you each night, as I will never forget the way in which you tragically left this world. I'm grateful that I am able to see what fine people your children have grown to be. Sandy's strength is nothing short of amazing, and I admire her so much for doing what few others could. May God bless your family as they continue to live their lives with you close inside their hearts.

I miss you my friend. I know God is holding you his arms and watching over your family.

I still think of you and your family. Fifteen years later so much in the world has changed. Joseph is a dad--kids are growing up--moving on. Still remember everything of that terrible day--Gone But Never Forgotten!!

I will always remember

Joe, I had this in my lab at IPC for you, Kenny White and Sal Fiumefreddo.
