Joseph Alongi

Dateline: Goffstown, NH. Joseph Alongi, 83 of Goffstown died December 8, 2006 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, after a period of declining health.

He was born October 31, 1923 in Malden, MA and was the son of the late Casimiro and Liboria (Alongi) Alongi. He was raised and educated in the Malden area and lived most of his life in the area.

Mr. Alongi served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal, and left the Army in 1946. He was employed for 30 years by Piantidosi Bakery of Medford, MA, as a shipper. After retirement Mr. Alongi relocated to Goffstown, where he worked for many years as a school crossing guard..

He was predeceased by his first wife Sarah R. Alongi in 1996.

Members of the family include his wife of 9 years, Mary Alongi of Kernersville, N.C., a son Joseph Alongi, Jr. of Revere, MA, a daughter Marie Mix of Vero Beach, FL., 2 grandchildren, 5 step children and many step grandchildren, a sister Loretta Benvinuto, of Vero Beach, FL. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday 1:00PM at French & Rising Funeral Home of Goffstown, and entombment at Mount Calvary Cemetery will follow.
