Not sure what to say?

My very belated sympathies. Only just now read Mr. Andres obituary. I listened to Jay's Music Till Dawn program on WBBM from home in Canada, near Ottawa, for all my high school years in the 1950s into the 60s'. A truly fine radio host who felt like a close friend. I learned most of what I know about classical music from him, then later worked in radio , inspired by having heard him. I'm now in my 80s and still treasure those late nights listening his program. A truly great communicator and...

I graduated from Northwestern University in 1960, and did a lot of late night studying in the late 1950's. Listening to "Music til Dawn" was a real companion. Many, many wonderful memories.

Jay Andres was one of the best radio voices of the 20th century. While his 'Music 'Til Dawn' program went off the air a few years before I was listening to radio, I've been fortunate enough to find a few old recordings of him online. His very listenable vocal qualities and personable style are rare in the world of commercial radio. Probably a very little known fact - Jay Andres was the major inspiration for the radio program out of Chicago called Nightsounds with Bill Pearce, which still...

Sixty years ago my high school sweetheart and I ended every date in my driveway listening to Music Til Dawn. Mr. Andres was kind enough to answer a letter I wrote to him while I was in college about the playing of South American composers. Sixty years later my high school love and I are reunited; Mr. Andres is greatly missed by us. He was part of our life. Judith Schmerling Weiss, formerly of Riverside, Illinois

Jay Andres' voice and manner hosting "Music 'til Dawn" is one of my fondest memories from my college days at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD when up all night cramming for exams or standing the occasional all-night fire-watch in the mens' dormitory. What a comforting presence he was to his listeners. RIP, Jay!

Jay Andres was the best Classical DJ Chicago ever had. He made fine music FUN! While he was on WNIB, I once asked if he would play something to nonor my brother, who was home on his first leave since completing the Marine Corps boot camp. He did, and congratulated my brother on the air! He was a wonderful good sport! He will be greatly missed.

Thanks for the memories. I always had a radio next to my bed where I listened to "music till dawn" and as I remember, followed by the "Breakfast Club."

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ginny, Brooke, Polly, Martha, Lucy, Nora, David and Joe. "Uncle Joe" will always be in our hearts. With love, Peter and Kathy Dezell, Gavin and Larry and Schultz
