Joe was a wonderful friend. He loved MDI and we so enjoyed having him sail with us every summer. Nothing made him happier than sailing amongst the islands on the Great Harbor of Mt. Desert.

I taught at Widener many years ago, and when the Eagles won the Super Bowl I thought about Joe. Sorry to read that he has been gone for almost five years. Joe was always sharply dressed, kind, and conservative, and he was a nice older guy to share an office with.

I knew Joe for 57 years. He was one of the kindest and most considerate people I ever met. It was an honor to have had him as a friend. I will miss him deeply.

Dear Maggie,
Joe was the nicest man I knew, kind and genuine. Seeing you and he together at church was always a treat. And he always was there to proctor a class for me at Widener...I pray for strength and I know you hold him in your heart. God bless,
