Joseph Bailey Obituary
81, passed away on January 25, 2017. He was born in Indianapolis to the late Maurice and Elizabeth Bailey.
Joseph is survived by his children Martha Bailey, Debbie (Kenny) King, Joseph Neal (Judy) Bailey, Sandra Van Vlymen, Barbara Payne, and Ray (Gina) Nesbit; grandchildren Sommer Van Vlymen, Roxanne Zoderer, Bailey Van Vlymen, Vanessa Van Vlymen, Tyler King, Ethan Payne, Molly Payne, and Oscar Nesbit; sisters Mary Dillard, Dorothy Washam, Margaret Beach, Jane McArdle, Esther Capps, and Virginia Lee Congdon; and brothers Richard Bailey and James Robert Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Bailey; daughter Dana Fader; grandson Phillip Trenton Bailey. and brother Paul Bailey.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 30th, 2017 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home - Beech Grove Chapel, followed by a Service at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. www.littleandsonsbeechgrove.com

I will miss you Joe Bailey. Your hugs, the sparkle in your eye when you smiled, and the great stories you told! I especially like the one when you went horseback to school!
The impact you have had on your son Ray shaped him into the amazing man he is today. It has woven its way into the father he is to Oscar , Adrianna and Gino, into the most loving husband a wife could ever want, and into the incredible music that he plays.

There's an old saying that says "you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family". It's wrong. Joe Bailey chose to be our dad. He put his whole heart into our lives when he decided to marry a woman with four children even though he already had three kids of his own. He loved each of us unconditionally through the toughest years of raising a family. With only about ten years between the oldest and the youngest of the seven children, we were all tweens and teens at the same time.His dedication to my mother through her battle with Alzheimer's was a tribute to his ability to consistently chose to be loving, dedicated, and loyal under impossible circumstances.It was a privilege for me to help him realize his lifetime dream of retiring to Florida. Though his health allowed him only about a year and a half with Ray and I in the sunshine state, we built a great relationship and wonderful memories that bring a smile to my face so very often. I'm going to miss my Papa.

A father doesn't have to be biological. You loved us as if we were your own from the beginning. 4 more kids is sure a whole lot to take on! But you didn't think twice. You filled our lives with things we hadn't had much of before...music, laughter, food, shelter, CB radio training and hapiness to name a few. I'm not sure our lives would have turned out so well without your guidance. For that Joe Bailey we will be forever grateful!
I know I speak for Debbie, Sandi and Ray when I say...we love you...you will never be forgotten!
