Not sure what to say?

Mr. Bates was my chemistry teacher @ John McDonogh in the early 90's...there will never be a teacher a person like Mr. Bates in the school system that cared a great deal about his students... He would be missed by all... My deepest sympathy to his family....... Cheerie (New Orleans)

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

I offer my deepest sympathy to the Bates family. I remember Mr. Bates like it was yesterday, as he taught me Biology at John Mc Donogh. He was truly one of my favorite teachers. He performed his job well and left an impression of respect and admiration on me. I would always stop by to see him whenever I visited "The Mac" after graduating. May the Lord bless you and keep you all. Brian Hicks-Class of '86.

Joe Bates was a class act as a teacher and a person. His softspoken, kind ways will always be remembered by all he touched in life.
