I couldn't be more shocked at this news. I am so sorry for your loss. I hadn't been in touch with Joey in years, but to me he was always a southern gentleman, not unlike his father. I met Joe in the early 80s when I followed him at the SC School for the Deaf/Blind. I've worked with him off and on for over 30 years. He had a great sense of humor and always seemed to enjoy life. Joe and I were long time friends starting a USC. I was able to keep up with him and his accomplishments through the years. Wonderful memories. He was the greatest guy and always happy. The last time we talked was at an auction, something we had in common other than sigh language. He will be missed. We send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.God bless.
