Not sure what to say?

I met Dr. Joe in the late sixties, early seventies as a result of my mother (Barbara Gilley) being one of his patients. I was a teenager at the time, but I remember his dry humor and down to earth, practical advice and treatments. His style made me seek out D.O.'s in the future as an adult. Thank you for the lovely and informative tribute. I realize now I was in the presence of a great mind.

I first met Dr. Joe back in 1985 when I was an employee of Ham's Restuarant. Nearly every Thursday, Dr. Joe would come in to have lunch with us. After I became one of the owners, Dr. Joe continued to come in every Thursday. We all looked forward to his wit and laughter. At one time or another, Dr. Joe was aways there for one or any of the employees. And always, would want to know how each one of us were doing. He was a wonderful man and will surely be missed. My condolences to the family...

Joe has been by aviation medical examiner since 1990. I was priviledged to visit him in his office seventeen times, during which I came to regard him as a special friend. He treated me as if I were his favorite, as I'm sure he treated all of us pilots. He readily helped me with a couple of medical problems without any rigamarole at all. My condolences to his loved ones. I just didn't get enough of this great man and I'm sure God will let us meet up again in some happy place. I'm looking...

I wish to offer my sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Joe. He was my Flight Surgeon since 1994. A relatively short time considering when he started. He was one Doctor I looked forward to seeing. We always talked about his cabin and things in general. I also wish to thank Margaret and his staff for always treating me like a family member, rather than a patient. I have most of the "I passed my medical with flying colors" stickers on my fridge. I will never foget the time they worked me...

I met Dr. Joe Battersby in June of 1966,since then, at one time or another; he has been the following things to me: My Flight Surgeon, My Family Doctor, My Mentor, My Advisor, My Councilor and My Advocate. But most of all I considered him my friend. He was a special type of individual. One that you could always go to with your problems, knowing that he would try to help, no matter what.In my opinion, there are too few in his profession that take the time to be as compassionate and...

Thanks,Joe, for all the wonderful times. I feel blessed to have been one of "your guys." It's not "good bye" just "so long." Fair winds my Friend.

Doc Joe...
He was a very big and important part of my life. I was blessed to have him as my family doctor. I was even more blessed to work for him and call him my friend. I will miss my "Doc Joe", my teacher, my boss, and most importantly my friend. Joe, thank you for everything...the knowledge you shared, the confidence you built, the advice you gave, the love you shared, the family you made, and the humor you brought to every situation. I love you, I miss you, & I thank God I was...

Joe was an amazing individual. He loved what he did and loved his pilots. Joe became a part of us; we looked forward to our visits with Joe and the ladies in the office - our flight physicals were merely an excuse to share time with Joe. He really cared about each of us individually - Joe made each of us feel special in his "brood" of aviators. We are each blessed to have shared in this special relationship with Joe. Thank you for being in our lives and God's Speed, Joe Battersby.
