Not sure what to say?

I worked for Joe as a freelance writer when he was editor of Northwest Magazine. He'd assign me stories and I'd suggest ideas to him as well. I was pleased whenever he selected my articles to be the cover stories. I enjoyed Joe's humor and feistiness. At times he reminded me of a character out of Damon Runyon. His friends Sadie and Al Feves, I learned years later, were close friends of my parents. What a rich, full life he had. What achievements!

Joe was a friend and mentor. He helped me launch a career in photography and has been friend over the years. His passing is a loss to me and Oregon.

Joe was a long time one of a kind friend, never to be forgotten. I'm sure his strong faith in our Lord is being rewarded. John and Gladys Wolff

Condolences to Joe's family. Martha, please call me about a piece of Yvonne's that I want to give you. (503.228.0809)

Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with your family. May your precious memories of your time together help with the pain. May God comfort your hearts and give you peace. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

My condolences to you and your family! He left a tremendous legacy. He truly accomplished his dreams and then some! You should be very proud.

Joe was a good friend to my father and all of our families. His storytelling and his joy for life and his family and friends will be forever in my good memories about him.

This is a nice tribute to Joe. My condolences to his family. Kathy Nokes

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was a wonderful sweet character and I'm so glad I knew him. I worked with him for 10 years doing special projects at the Oregonian, he introduced me to my husband, and he was a good neighbor. He touched many lives.
