I went to school for a few years (at Quaboag Elementary School...) with Bob Bird, but I doubt that he will remember me. My family moved to Monson, soon after that. MANY times, while my father and brother and I were trapping, fishing, or hunting, we would run into "Warden Joe". He was the most fair and the most PRACTICAL natural resources officer (game warden, to use the more accurate term...) any us ever knew. Rest in peace, Mr. Bird. God Bless. My sympathy to all of Joe's family. I didn't know Joe but I knew his father also named Joe. My uncle Ed Breen was a police reporter for the Telegram & Gazette and was friends with the elder Joe who was a Sgt. with the Worcester Police Dept. I have many good memories of with Joe's parents. I'm sorry I never got to meet Joe. bit if he was anything like his father, I'm sure he was a wonderful man.
