Not sure what to say?

Mr. Brophy,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN in the Pacific during WW II fighting the Japanese as a crewmember of the aircraft carrier USS Essex(CV 9). And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. The Essex saw extensive action from 1943 through to VJ Day in 1945 as part of Task Force 58.
