Joseph D. Cantey

Joseph D. Cantey, 86, of Guilford died peacefully at home Tuesday, March 24, 2009. He was the loving husband of Jane Page Cantey. Born in Everett, MA, February 22, 1923, the son of the late Joseph and Amelia Cantalupi. He was predeceased by sisters Mary and Eileen. Joe served in World War II as a Navy Pilot in the Pacific earning the Air Medal with clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross with clusters and the Presidential Unit Citation. He received a degree in Engineering from Yale University in 1949. Upon graduating he moved to New York City and later moved to Connecticut to start his own business The Pension Service, Inc. He was an active member of the Guilford Agricultural Association for many years as well as becoming a Master Gardner. He is survived by his four children John Cantey (Michelle) of Ivoryton, Jim Cantey (Lisa) of Madison, Nancy Banasiak (Dr. Kenneth) of Madison and Sally Connolly (Daniel) of City Island, NY. Joseph is also survived by his beloved seven grandchildren, Eric and Sarah Cantey, Elizabeth, Andrew and Emily Banasiak and Nicholas and Robert Connolly.

Friends are invited to call Friday, March 27th from 5-8pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford 06437. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford, Saturday, March 28th at 9:30am.
