Joe gave me my first job in 1977. I remember washing dishes in the back room, he came in a said Yoast! you have a good personality to waste it back here I want you on the floor tomorrow as a bus boy! I wanted to quit but stuck to it. Joe reminded me of Johnny Carson he had that dry sense of humor and sarcasm that I loved. His love of cars always gave us things to talk about and I was excited to show him my new find a 1960 TR3. See you soon my friend!

We always looked forward to Joe's welcoming face when we entered Elmer's! He always seemed to have our seasonal travels memorized, asking about our latest boating trip, Mexico trip or fishing trip! And I still own my wonderful red felt fedora, thanks to Joe, who more than once remembered I'd worn it in, but didn't have it on as I was walking up to the register! we enjoyed eating Elmers almost from their opening in Clackamas. Joe was a fixture there and my husband enjoyed discussing cars with him. He will be dearly missed.
