Joseph Cooley 58 departed dris life on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Conununity
Hospital after a brief illness. He was born to Willie and Rosie Cooley on October 6, 1946
in Anderson, IN. He was a graduate of Anderson High School in 1966 and was a
employee of Delphi E plant 20 for 39 years. He also selVed in the United States Anny in
1968 for 2 years. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662.
He was united with the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the
leadership of the late Rev. M.C. Williams. He began his Singing Ministry under the
direction of Mother Battle. He was a member of the Friendship Stars and the Golden
linkS. He continued to sing with the Gospel Heavy Weights in the 60's and currently he
was the founder of the Joe Cooley and the Gospel Klassics.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife of 36 years Carolyn Anderson Cooley,
his daughters JoAnn Cooley of Indianapolis, Theresa Cooley, Denise Cooley -Goolsby
both of Anderson. One son, Joseph R. Cooley also of Anderson. Grandchildren
LaQuana, April, Anissa, Shawnta, James, Terrence, Ronise, Katilyn, and one Great
Granddaughter Da'Nyia. Brothers M.C. (wife Eleanor) Cooley of Indianapolis, Willie
(wife Joretha} Cooley, Amos Cooley, Johnnie (wife Pearlie) Cooley, Rev. DeWayne (wife
r Jeanette) Cooley, Aaron Cooley all of Anderson. Sisters Theresia C. Taylor, Bernita
(husband William) Hoosier, Sandra (husband Dennis) Long and Janis (husband Bobby
Joe) Wilson all of Anderson. Father in -law Charles Anderson Jr., Brother in -law Rev.
Richard Anderson, Maurice (wife Pam) Anderson, Michael (wife Dorothy) Anderson.
Sister in -law Hazel (husband Eddie) Edwards and Patricia Simmons. A host of Aunts,
Uncles, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Rosie Cooley, brothers L.C. and Larry
Cooley. Mother in -law Theresa Anderson, brother in-law Charles Anderson, sister in -
law Terry P. Rayford and Paternal and Maternal Grandparents. One Niece TonUIlasina
Ivey.
SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT THE FRIENDSHIP MISSIONARY BAPTIST CIillRCH, 1540
WEST 16TH STREEI, AT 1 PM ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2005 WITH DR. EDGAR M.
WOODALL OFFICIATING. VIEWING WILL BE FROM 10 AM TO 1 PM TUESDAY AT THE
CHURCH. BURIAL WILL BE AT ANDERSON MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY WHERE MILITARY
GRA VESIDE RITES WILL BE CONDUCTED BY V. F .W. POST 266. A MEMORIAL SERVICE
WILL BE HELD BY THE GOSPEL KLASSICS AT A LATER DATE.
