Not sure what to say?

As a former educator on Staten Island - many years ago - I remember Joe very well; he was too remarkable a presence to forget. Men don't come any better.

You dont know me but my twin sister and brother were first to graduate when he became principle of PS46 and my siblings truly loved him. He was my brothers biggest fan and put his photo in the hall of fame in the school and the photo still hangs there today, and my dad truly loved him as well he was an amazing man. Sending your family prayers always and when anyone talks of him its with love and kindness always With warm regards Angela Bilotti class of 72

Wish

I was a Student in PS 46 back in 1974-78 and he was the principal back then. I just found out about your passing. Rest In Peace. You touched so many lives. I will always remember you.

You have a birthday coming up Mr. C. I just found out about your departure into heaven. I learned a lot about how to control 250 children in the Autorium after you retired and I assumed your seat on the stage. Hands high and fingers on your lips. Lol. You were always understanding of my situations and supported me through all of them, and for that I am truly grateful. Happy Birthday. Rest in peace. Until we meet again in heaven and will share another Beefeaters on the rocks. You were a father...

All I have is love for him in my heart. He was a sweet and understand person. He will always be remember by me.

As the first anniversary of his death approaches, "My Boss" is always in my mind and heart. His words of wisdom and advice remain with me. He is missed dearly but never forgotten. His name lives on in the lives of the students, teachers and colleagues that were so fortunate to be under his direction. It also lives on in South Beach with "Joseph L. Cugini Way. Happy First Anniversary in heaven, Boss.

Joe was a great man. He got me my job at Susan E. Wagner High School in 1981. That break he got me turned my life around. I am forever grateful to him. May he rest in peace.

One of a kind a true educators educator. He touched so many lives, both students as well as teachers. He taught me so much while he was at IS 51. Tough but fair combined with a good sense of humor. So many memories but some of the best were his annual trip to Washington, DC....R.I.P. Mr Cugini you have left a lasting impression for those who follow in your footsteps!!
