JOSEPH CURRIE

Father Joe will be fondly remembered by the St. Thomas More/Chapel Hill, NC parish, where he served many years ago. He left an indelible memory for our family that one Thanksgiving when he had dinner at our house, played basketball in our driveway (what else for a Tar Heel family?), and engaged family members around the table in pleasant conversation. He also introduced us to Anthony De Mello's writings, for which we are forever grateful. What an awesome man Fr. Joe was! Peace, Father...

I came to know Fr Joe, when I was a teenager, studying in Loyola School, Jamshedpur, India. Staying in the school hostel away from parents, family and friends, was tough. But Fr Joe, made those days magical. The high point of my life then was being chosen to be an alter boy serving at his Ordination Mass, which was attended by his wonderful parents and brothers. Dear Fr Joe, rest in peace, and know this, "to live on in the hearts of those we left behind, is not to die". Will always remember...

My sincere condolences to Fr. Joseph Currie's family. He was an incredible person who always shared a listening ear and was a true friend. It was truly a blessing to have known him. He will be greatly missed.

Joe Currie, S.J. was a gift to the world. His hard work, his humility, his embodiment of Jesuit spirituality, his laugh, his athleticism, his kindness - we have lost a great man.

I met Fr. Joe when I was still in my teens and he was such a lovely human being, so full of love, wise words, kind words and uplifting words! He was an immense part of our lives, celebrating many milestones through the years, blessing our engagements, renewal of 40th wedding vows for my parents, baptizing our little girl and celebrating our wedding in Chicago.
