Joseph A. Danko, Jr., 86, of Saylorsburg, passed away, Saturday, September 16, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Warren Campus.  He was the husband of Frances (Rizzi) Danko, together they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, October 3, 2022.           .


Born in Windber, PA, September 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Steffish) Danko. 


Prior to retiring, he was employed as a mechanic for Warren George, Jersey City, NJ. 


He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Pen Argyl, where he served as a Usher at the 8 AM Mass for many years and he was also a member of the Carpenter’s Union. 


Joseph was an avid football fan, following the NY Jets and Penn State. 


In addition to his wife Frances, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Positano and her husband Frank of Saylorsburg, two sons, Joseph A. Danko, IV, and his wife Maureen of Jackson Heights, and John of Rockaway Beach, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 


He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Danko. 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Avenue, Pen Argyl.  There will be viewing hours Wednesday beginning at 2 PM until 5 PM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl, and Thursday beginning at 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM at St. Elizabeth Church.  Interment will be in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Pen Argyl. 


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered in Joseph’s name to St. Elizabeth’s Building Fund, 300 W. Babbitt Avenue, Pen Argyl, PA 18072 or AWSOM Animal Shelter, www.awsomanimals.org, 3129 Godfrey Ridge Drive, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
