Not sure what to say?

Joe Datsko and I overlapped at the University of Michigan for only a few years. He chaired the Graduate Committee in Mechanical Engineering and as a young Professor, I admired how soft-spoken and sincere he was. After retirement, he kept an active interest in the department and sponsored a student fellowship. We both shared being amateur bicyclists, but I must admit that I am much more amateurish than he. During some travelogs, he shared after retiring from work (but not cycling!) I asked...

Dear Datsko family, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Mr. Datsko's generosity in wrapping me, a childhood friend of Tina's, into the activities of his family. His kindness gave me the chance to experience camping trips, boating adventures to Blind Lake, and many other things I can't even remember now but that weren't possible for my own family then. May his memory be for a blessing.

Condolences to the Datsko family. I did not know Prof Datsko but I wish that I had as we have a lot in common. My Dad (1912-2009) lived in Wehrum PA until the town was abandoned in 1929 after the coal mine there closed. I went to grades 1-7 in Wehrum. The school was one of two buildings left in the 40s. I also have family ties in Ebensburg. Forgive the intrusion but this is a rare and unusual coincidence. Thank you and once again my condolences.

Tina A very nice tribute to honor your father, 103 is pretty special. My condolences.
