Grew up with this favorite cousin I used to call Sammie Joe. From grade school through High School, spent much of my life on the vacant lot next to the Davis house in Lubbock. Dear Davis family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Davis was an example of kindness, caring, and inner strength and peace. I will always remember how Chris went with her dad to every one of his earlier visits to the doctor when he was dealing with prostate cancer. Chris loves her dad so dearly and always spoke of him with such respect and love. We will all miss him!

My fondest memory is when he found a piece of raw turquoise in the mountains of New Mexico and gave it to me, saying he knew I would find something to do with it. I took the piece to a jewelry maker who cut the stone and discovered the most incredible blue turquoise. It was cut and shaped into 4 pieces. I had 2 of the pieces set in silver for a ring & bracelet for me and was able...
