Not sure what to say?

Time has gone by and since I no longer work at Good Samaritan Hospital, I only learned of late from my dentist of Joe Denman's passing. I always enjoyed working with Joe at Good Samaritan anaesthetizing his patients. Joe was a very kind, skilled and careful ophthalmic surgeon.
Joe was also a very generous and thoughtful neighbour to me and my family when I lived in Portland Heights. I have very fond memories of those happy times. Our sympathy goes out to Susan, Margot, Meriwether and...

I read of Joe's passing in our Tulane Alumni publication. I hadn't seen Joe since graduation, but remember him very fondly from those exciting but challenging days. My sympathies to his family.

Beautiful service yesterday. Not only was it evident that Dr. Joe loved his friends, family and patients, but they all love him as well.

This sunday while you are celebrating Joe's life in Portland, here in France, in a beautiful little chapel near our home, we have lighted a candle. It will never stop illuminating our lifes and warming our hearts. Joe was a marvellous and unique friend and an example for all of us. Joe, sa femme chérie, ses deux filles chéries seront toujours dans nos cœurs. Nous pensons bien fort à vous.

Joe was great fraternity Brother of Zeta Sigma in the early 60's. Many fond memories we had all together while he spent a short time there before moving on to his four-year college. Not too serious, Joe spread good fun amongst all his Brothers...he was a terrific guy and went on to become a renowned eye surgeon as we all know. He'll be missed!

Susan and family, Leona and I so appreciated Joe's kind and thoughtful attention to us as patients and his friendship.. He has been and will continue to be missed and remembered. These memories and his wonderful family are a strong legacy of a life well lived in serving others.

I join the long list of patients that were fortunate to have 'Dr. Joe' as my doctor. I am a relatively 'new' patient at 12 years yet I feel as strongly about Dr. Denman as those who were patients for decades. I have a bit of a strange eye disease and I feel certain that it was only correctly diagnosed due to his tenacity. Medical skills aside, what comes through in all the tributes was his compassion. I not only was the beneficiary myself but I saw him treat all his patients with respect,...

Dr. Joe was the kindest Doctor I ever
met. I was privileged to work for him
25 years plus. My family and I experienced such a blessing from knowing him and his wonderful wife
Susan and daughters Margot and
Meriwether. I am also so thankful
that Dr. Joe was able to do Cataract
Surgery for my husband, Hugh. I will
treasure the special memory I have of
him forever.
