I was deeply saddened to learn about Joe's passing. I was in the hospital at the time and unfortunately could not attend the service. Joe was dear friend, colleague, and cohort when we were in graduate school together. He was a tremendous help in many of my research projects when he was operating the microprobe at Brown.
