Joseph E. Dorshimer PEN ARGYL Joseph E. Dorshimer, 54, of Pen Argyl passed away, Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus. Joe was the husband of Claudia (Karsten) Dorshimer, they celebrated 34 years of marriage on Feb. 4, 21017. Born in Easton, Nov. 9, 1962, he was the son of Ernest and Marie (Hughes) Dorshimer of Pen Argyl. Joe was a 1981 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and served in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was employed by Shawnee Inn, Shawnee on the Delaware, in property management. He also worked for Fox Racing of the ARCA Racing Series at Pocono Raceway. He was active in the dog play group at VCAAVH Animal Hospital, Pen Argyl, and was a former member of the Lehigh Valley Quarter Midget Association, where he helped his oldest grandson, Cole, race quarter midgets. In addition to his wife, Claudia, and parents, Ernest and Marie, he is survived by two daughters, Nicole L. Heinlein and her husband, Pete, of Virginia Beach, and Ashley R. Dorshimer and her companion, Nicholas Kennedy, of Nazareth; three grandchildren, Cole, Carsten and Cillian; two sisters, Tammy Fessler of Pittsburgh, and Diane Trapeni of Rutland, VT; two brothers, Robert A. Dorshimer of Saylorsburg and Terry L. Dorshimer of Pittsburgh; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, 126 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl. There will be viewing hours Monday beginning at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. until time of services, all at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to AWSOM (Animal Welfare Society of Monroe), 3129 Godfrey Ridge Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
