Joseph J. Dowd

I was in St. Vincents Home with Joe Dowd while he attended St. John's Law School. I was 14 and he was 22. He was a great mentor to the younger boys in the home, a wonderful friend and set an example for our futures. I regret that I never saw him again after I left the home. I know where his grave site is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and when I visit my family plot I pass Joe Dowd's place of rest and say a prayer for him.

Joe Dowd was my brothers Godfather and my sponsor when I had my Confirmation.. He was an amazing man and role model and the love he shared with Marge was inspiring.. I will never forget him, and neither will anyone who knew him.
Rest in Peace.

Joe was my sons Godfather and dear friend to my father and mother Frank and Jane Cunningham, Marge and Joe where great friends and will be sorely missed,
