Father Duffey arrived at Saint Rita's School as our pastor in 1968. The entire school was filled with excitement as we prepared to meet & welcome him. We practiced many songs for a special assembly to honor him. The song that he enjoyed most was "If I Had A Hammer." Our class of 1969 was so proud, since we were Father Duffey's first graduating class. He will always be remembered as a wise/kind/wonderful priest. He was a dear friend to my uncle, Father Francis J. A beloved friend of our family.
Fr. Duffey married and baptized so many of us..he was such a kind soul and a wonderful person to have a conversation with be it spiritual or sports-Fr. Duffey was a man for all season and he is deeply missed. Our 4 year son to whom Fr. Baptized asked "when are we picking up Fr. Duffey for Thanksgiving"-our holidays will not be the same without him. God has a great man with him!
