Joseph Anthony Faillace 82 of The Village House, Newport, RI and formerly of Evergreen Ave., Tiverton, RI died on Saturday, April 17th, 2010 after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was the husband of the late Georgianna (Widman) Faillace. Born in Yonkers, New York, he was the son of the late Anthony Faillace and Rose (Garriola) Faillace. After retiring from Harvey Probber, he spent much of his time at McGovern's Restaurant, where the staff became his extended family. A Navy Veteran, he served during the Korean War Era. He was very active in the N. Tiverton Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 50 years and attained the rank of District Chief. He is survived by his son Robert Faillace (Wife Geri) of Somerset, his daughter Patricia Counsell (Husband Jack) of E. Wareham, and his daughter and devoted caregiver Christine Mello (Husband Michael) of Tiverton. He also leaves his grandsons Brandon Faillace, Joshua and Jonathan Mello, along with sisters Lucille Clay of Galveston, TX and Irene Faillace of Yonkers, NY. At his request he will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held on MONDAY 6-8 PM at the POCASSET MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 462 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the Alzheimer's Unit at Village House of Newport, RI.
