They were blessed with eight children; Carol, Lawrence (Carol Ann), Laurenda (Robert), Christine (Laurence), Mark (Sandi), Patricia, Christopher and Annette. After her death, he met and married his wife, Mary "June" Nordstrom-Fechik, on December 22, 2000. They were married for 20 years. He is survived by his step-children, Michael (Sandy), the late Thomas (Sandy) and Rachel.

As a young man, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was a Motor Machinist’s Mate Second Class and earned the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon (2 Stars), Philippine Liberation Ribbon (1 Star) and World War II Victory Ribbon.

Joe worked for General Motors for 50 years in the skilled trades as a Tool and Die Maker, retiring in 1991. He spent his retirement volunteering at St. Agnes, St. John Vianney and Holy Rosary. This allowed him to enjoy his favorite pastime working with his hands.

Joe’s philosophy in life was faith in God and being a good role model for his children and grandchildren, He valued family, education and a strong work ethic.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Hurley Medical Center and longtime friend and physician, Dr. Peddireddy.

He will be sadly missed and we are grateful for his 95 years!

Not sure what to say?

God Blessed you Uncle Joe and we were all blessed to have you. We will all miss you.

Joe Fechik was a dear friend to my husband, Carl, and me. I can see how he was an example for all his children . He was a hard worker and a very caring man. Being 95 doesn't mean he could't show his concern and love and joy for his family and friends. I was always moved by his faith in God and his delight with life. He will be delighted with Heaven and seeing his Lord, face to face.

Joe was a faithful servant to his Lord, his family and friends. Darcy and I were so blessed to have him as our friend. He would come to Maine for a working "vacation," helping us with projects on our little motel. He was a super friend and will be greatly missed.

Wonderful man! I enjoyed our short visits at many events at Saint John Vianney.

Prayers sent to your family!

In loving memory of a very special person. My deepest condolences to the Fechik family.

As a teacher at Dukette Catholic School (St. Agnes), I would sometimes come into the building on weekends or stay late into the night and Joe would somehow appear to check out the building and make sure I was alright. We'd stop and talk for awhile and I'd feel safe knowing he was around. I also had the pleasure of knowing Chris and Annette, one of my favorite students. My condolences to the Fechik family and may God hold Joe forever in his loving embrace.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to Joe's family and friends.

My deepest sympathies to Laurenda & her family. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow

So sorry for your loss Lorenda. Prayers for you and your family
