FILIPANSZISZ, Joseph (Filpansick) – Of Flint, age 79, went home to his Lord on Monday, March 15, 2004 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 10AM Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Roy T. Horning officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #1452 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice. Visitation 5-8PM Tuesday, 11AM-3 and 5-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. A scripture service will be held Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Filipanszisz was born in Flint, Michigan on July 8, 1924. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Campaign. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter No. 122. Mr. Filipanszisz was an avid sportsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He had many hobbies, his favorite was making windchimes for his family and friends. Surviving are sisters, Agnes Longaker of Clio, Catherine Casciano of Clio, Dorothy Peraino of Flint; sisters-in-law, Agusta Filpansick of Flint and Helen Filpansick of Mt. Morris; many nieces, nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Reverend Arthur Lee and Lou Pagano. Special thanks to McLaren Hospice, Jania Brooks and Sarah Leppek. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes Filpansick; brothers, Stephen, George and Charles and sister, Mary Hatfield.
