Not sure what to say?

Father Joe still holds a special place in my heart and in the hearts of my three children. He officiated at their marriages; he consoled us in our loss of eight year old Nate; and he always brought his laughter free and wild. He was one of our greatest blessings.

I have sent Fr. Joe a birthday card since the 70´s. I am sad that I can´t send one onn10/21 for his 80th birthday. He is missed by hundreds of people. Thank you for being my friend. Toni Ann Buys

Father Joe was the pastor at St John vianney in Wyoming Michigan. He also married my husband and I in 1972. He was a fabulous priest may he rest in peace. Maryegrace and Ray Punches

We knew Fr. Joe when we lived in Big Rapids from 1982-87 and attended St. Paul’s Chapel which was near Ferris State’s campus. The students really loved and admired him and so did our family. He was genuine, generous, honest, and down-to-earth: one of the finest priests I’ve ever met. He baptized our baby daughter Ellen in April, 1985. I’ll never forget Fr. Joe, after the ceremony, holding her high in front of the congregation and proclaiming, “Ain’t she cool?” What a wonderful proclamation of...

One of many of the "Best man in the world!" Knew Fr Joe more from a distance, or when visiting our parish, OLConsolation, Rockford, and Holy Trinity, Alpine

Fr Joe...the first time I met him I had no idea what to expect. When he came through the slider door where he resided in Baldwin. He wore cut off bluejean shorts, a striped tank top and sandals smoking a cigarette. His hair was a bit long and he had a full beard. All I do know is he became a life preserver for me at a crucial time in my life. God lead me to him and he lead me to a path of greator understanding. Which helped me to create a life worth living. I thought of him as a mentor and he...

Our sympathies to Fr Joe’s family. He was one of a kind, so special and will be missed. We got to know him at St Anne’s in Baldwin. He baptized both of our sons using water from the Pere Marquette river. He thought that was so cool! He loved to fish that river and had many talks with my husband about fishing. Rest In Peace Fr Joe, and tight lines!!

Wow the loss of an Icon here in West Michigan, and how ironic that his passing is so close to "Blessing Of The Bikes" Rest In Peace Father Joe,
Condolences to your Family.

Fr. Joe was the coolest priest anyone could ever meet! I am glad he was a part of my families and my life! Thank you, God, for sharing him with us. I know my Daddy and He are having a grand "catch-up" in Heaven!
