Joseph M. Fuller

I met Joe in an undergraduate political science class in 1971. I enjoyed him from the first moment. He started (and finished) law school ahead of me, but we worked on and talked about a number of cases over the years. We also did a fair amount of hiking together -- in the Phoenix area, around Sierra Vista, and even Picacho Peak. I am saddened by his passing but thankful for the many good memories. My condolences to Jan and all members of the Fuller family.

I was the investigator in an officer involved shooting in Wittmann Arizona many years ago, and Joe was the DCA assigned to the case. He actually came out to the scene (no one was seriously injured which made that unusual) and went through a re-enactment of the shooting himself. Smart, friendly, and not afraid to get his hands dirty. That's the Joe I remember and the kind of guy that cops respect. I know I did. Thank you Joe.

I am a retired Phoenix Police Detective and as such our paths crossed on numerous occasions over the years. I remember Joe as a soft spoken, kind gentlemen who was very proud of his career and was always very pro law enforcement. He was always a strong "guiding light" to those of us in Homicide and other investigative units, and we could always count on getting steady, professional guidance from Joe in any of the many difficult situations we would often find ourselves in. I worked with Joe from 1977 until 1983 at the Cochise County Attorneys Office, Criminal Division. I remember him smoking his pipe and he had a tobacco that smelled like dirty socks. We used to beg him to stop smoking it and he would just laugh and puff, and say it was the best tobacco he had. He was a great man and a wonderful person to work with. It is such a pleasure to be able to say he was a friend. You will be missed Joe....
