Dr. Joseph Emil Golonka

Joe was my closest childhood friend and classmate, but we went to different high schools. I am married for 61 years and have 3 surviving children. Fran and I live in Baltimore. Joe played piano and one-on-one baketball.

Joe was my best friend in Watervliet, in grammar school. We were both good students. We went to different high schools but still shoveled off an outdoor basketball court to play one-on-one in winter. He had an edge, but we were competitive. His uncle took us skiing once at Jiminy Peak. I remember meeting his wife, Lynn, and hope she is well. What a big family they have enjoyed!

As one of many cousins, I remember many family gatherings and the family lined up to get their blood pressure taken by dr. Joseph. His family was very proud of him. He now joined his many relatives at a party in heaven. Sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

Saddened to read of Dr. Golonka’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with him at the Capital District Psychiatric Center. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I fondly remember working with Dr. Golonka when I started working at CDPC in August 1988. I remember him as a compassionate and caring physician and human being. I often talked about the way he and Dr. Harrington cared for our patients and wished we could return to those days. May great memories of him bring peace and comfort to his family.
