Mr Granchelli. So happy to see you lived a long life. You were my 6th grade teacher in 1961. I think of you often ,even now at 72 years of age. My mother left when I was 7. I came home from school every day to an empty house. My self esteem was very low. Teachers in the lower grades humiliated me for not doing my homework or coming to school dirty. You were the first person that made me feel good about my self. You praised my essays and encouraged me to improve. When I graduated...

Mr. Granchelli was my sixth grade teacher at Forest Park way back in 1978. He was a great teacher and one of the relatively few teachers that I had that seemed to have a genuine interest in his students and a love for teaching. My condolences to Mr. Granchelli's family.

Mr. G was my sixth grade teacher. He was the best teacher I had and he helped set me straight for the rest of my life. I always talk about Mr. G and the way he carried himself and taught me how to carry myself.

When President Kennedy was shot he sent me down to the auditorium to get the details and bring them back to the class. Mr. G also took me along with his son and another classmate to see the Mets play the Dodgers in the then new Shea stadium. The Mets won.
