On November 19, 2017 Joseph Alfonso Guajardo, passed away suddenly at the age of 39, succumbing to a battle with depression. Joseph, the youngest of six children born to Rozi and the late J. Anthony Guajardo, was born on February 5, 1978 in San Antonio, Texas. Being so much younger than his siblings, he was the joy of the family, all of whom indulged him with love, adventures and life lessons. As a child, he showed a vivaciousness, effervescence and rare charm that drew much laughter and the love of many friends.
He graduated from Central Catholic High School and received a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Like his father, Joseph graduated from St. Mary's Law School, and was a practicing attorney in Austin. He divided his time between his law practice and his motorcycle repair shop. He was passionate about both and especially liked the challenges each provided. He studied Latin, Italian, Mandarin and was fluent in Spanish. He was an avid reader, loved to travel, had a quick wit and a contagious sense of humor.
His life's love was his daughter, Emma Noelle (Noey), age 10, who has inherited her father’s love of reading as well as his inquisitive mind. He was a proud, devoted father who often said that Noey made him a better person and was the best thing that ever happened to him. Joseph was a loyal friend to any in need and always willing to lend a hand. Even after death, his generosity by donating his organs helped save other lives, bringing hope to the living. His passing has left family and friends stricken and he will forever be missed.
The family urges that anyone so inclined make a trip along US Highway 101 between San Francisco and Portland along the Pacific coast in honor of Joseph’s memory. This was a treasured motorcycle adventure of his. Joseph is at peace, reunited with his beloved father, J. Anthony Guajardo.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Emma Noelle Guajardo, his mother, Rozi Pansza Guajardo, maternal grandmother, Vicki Gongora Pansza (age 108) of San Antonio, sister, Clarissa Guajardo, of Houston, Texas, J. Anthony Guajardo Jr. and Dawn Pruett Guajardo, of San Antonio, Texas, John Guajardo and Grace Singh Guajardo, of Houston, Texas, Paula Guajardo and Tommy Farrell, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and sister, Lauren Noelle Guajardo of San Antonio, as well as loving nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.
The family expresses gratitude for the care and compassion shown by the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance.
