Cousin Joe was my "Singing Cowboy Star" during the Summers of the mid 1940's. My brothers, George, Al, Kenny and I, Shirley, stayed with our Uncle George and Aunt Kate Evans on the farm in Calhan, Colorado, and on Saturday nights we would go to the Town Hall to dance and visit with family and friends. Cousin Joe sang and played guitar with the guys in the band, and he always made sure to give us hugs and not walk away without teasing me. You could always count on Counsin Joe's positive...

Joe was a very special person. I have known him all my life.We didn't miss very many dances that he played at in all the years he played. There will never be another person like Joe. My thoughts and prayers go to all his families. Louise (Lawson, Teakell) Negrette

Joe was a great friend to me and my family. We never missed an opportunity to go to the dances when his band was playing. Joe was the person who taught me how to Waltz. My favorite song that he sang was Silver Wings. He would always take time out to dance with me and my friends. Joe, I will always have the great memories. Thanks for crossing my path in life.

Joe was such an important part of my life. I don't remember a time that he wasn't there for me. Most of us are lucky if we have a father that just cares about us, but my family was fortunate to have that and an "Uncle Joe" too. He truely cared about all of us and never failed to let us know. If he was proud he said so, if he was disapointed he let us know that too. No one in the world could give a hug like Joe. He will be in my heart forever.
