HARPER, Joseph J. (Joe) - Of Flint, age 79, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 12Noon, Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Carl Petty officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation 5-8PM Saturday and 1-4PM and 6-8PM Sunday at the funeral home. Joe was born in Nimmons, Arkansas on January 11, 1928, the son of the late William and Qbell (Massey) Harper. He came to Flint in 1951. Joe served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Joe retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant with 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 1292. Joe loved deer and rabbit hunting and was very proud to have spent his life so close to his family. Surviving are children, Gennice (Jan) Gromada, Lisa (Robert) Bachman, Linda (Phil) Rozier, Joe (Sui-Lin) Harper, Troy (Susan) Harper; 12 grand and great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois (David) Stanley, Mary Lou (Bob) McGehee; brother, Billy; several nieces and nephews; Special friends, Becky, Tom, Lisa and all his friends at the Captains Quarters and many others.
