Not sure what to say?

Very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. His enthusiasm and energy were positively infectious. He made high school more memorable and fun for everyone who was lucky to know him.

I am completely in shock reading this about Joe. "Hawker" was among my first, and closest friends at SLUH. Probably because we were both among the shortest guys in any given crowd, photo or class. My first encounter with him was on a wall-ball court, where his fierceness became instantly apparent.
Of course, we all knew of the legacy of the Hawk family at the U.High with his older brothers who preceded him at Backer Memorial. The sacrifice, and generosity that the Hawk family...

Our deepest sympathy to Beth, Jim, John, Carolyn, Annie, Dave and the entire Hawk family. We will miss Joe and his Irish eyes that were always smiling.

Sorry to hear of Joe's death. Will remember him like I remember all the Hawks - always looking for more!

To the Hawk Family, we love you guys. Let us know about the Mass. We'll see you on the other side.

Will miss you buddy, had some wonderful times with you at X U..........Dooner

Hawker's unique brand of irreverence was an inspiration to all of us at the U. High.

Thanks Joe & Happy Trails!

Sitting in Granny during a thunder storm listening to "Riders in the Storm." Wearing gardening gloves to Danas. Our open door policy in Husman. Passing the soccer ball in Brockman. Frisbee in the Quad. And always a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye. I miss you and feel sorry for anyone who didn't know you.

Oh, and thanks for the nick name.
Love always,
"Webb Head"

My condolences to the family and friends of Joe Hawk. He was one of a kind. I'll never forget him from our Xavier days. Joe, rest in peace.
