Not sure what to say?

Joey had taken a summer trip to Hawaii. He came over to our house when he got back . He walked through the door and he had a thick Fidel Castro beard. My brother Charlie said , right away, "wow? He looks just like a Cuban.!" I guess that nickname stuck for the rest of his life. We all miss him terribly.

Sending love to the family, especially Molly. We haven´t seen each other in ages, but I was so sorry to hear of Joe´s passing. It´s such a difficult time. I hope you take comfort in the support of family and friends. Love, "Henny"

Dear Molly, Christina and Joey, and your extended family, Joe was my good friend ever since Riverdale Grade School, and even though we saw each other less in recent years we would chat on the phone and stay in touch. Our 'bunch' was a close-knit group, and the gap left by the loss of Joe will always be felt deeply. Thanks to Bill Evans, who organised several breakfasts at Fat City Cafe for us, we saw more of Joe than we had in several years, and were able to share some of our best memories...

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I wish I had been able to attend Joe's memorial service but was only a few days out from knee surgery. It was a shock to hear of his passing but it brought back so many memories of our families connections for so many years. I think I was about 12 when we became neighbors and our parents became lifetime friends. I remember Joe's birth and babysitting for him and playing endless hours of 7-up with Zoe Ann. My daughter Terren remembers flying home from Sunriver with the "two Joe's". Joe was...

To the Herrle and McMenamin families, I am so sorry for the loss of Joe, taken too soon. He was always smiling and seemed so genuinely happy to see us whenever we had the good fortune to share a cocktail or a meal, usually at the Madden home over these past nearly 30 years. He was so proud of his growing family. May you all find some peace and remember all the wonderful times and loved he shared with you. Thinking of you all with love, Laurie Kelley

I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Joe in the eighth grade, L.O. Junior High School, together with his other Dunthorpe buddies. I will always remember him as an easy person to talk to. We had some great times together. Please accept my condolences.

Joe had a spark in his eye and a sprint in his walk when I met him in 1978... he was always my friend

I met Joe in 1978 and loved working with him in every way! He will be missed
