When the phrase "his eyes twinkled" was coined, it must have been to describe Joe Herrmann. I fondly remember his friendship during the 11 years we worked together at John Hancock. He will be greatly missed.

I must say that it has been a great honor to be one of the caregivers for Joe during his final year. From the small portion of his life I saw, I can say for sure, he was a truly remarkable person, and a giant of a husband and father to his adoring family. I was consistently blown away by Joe's ability to crack jokes and show interest in other people's experiences, even at the height of his own terrible illness. His strength was truly amazing. I know he will leave a huge void in many lives,...

Dory and family,
I remember Joe mostly as a teenager growing up in Chicago - so handsome in his uniform. Many fond memories of the too few times that our paths crossed after that. Mom, Dad, Aunt Mary always thought highly of Joe and kept us abreast of his many accomplishments. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dory and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your sorrow. We in the Air Rescue Association will always remember Joe as a kind, dynamic and inspirational leader. He is sorely missed but we gain great solace in knowing that he is soaring with his many wing men and they are all better for having him with them. God bless and keep you. Ken and Carolyn Pribyla
