Howlett, Joseph, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the age of 87. Joe was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on August 23, 1933. He graduated from the University of Missouri for both undergraduate and law school. He was in the service and hated every second of it. He practiced law in St. Louis for nearly 60 years and loved it fiercely. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Howlett (nee Deschamps) and his children, Cynthia Howlett (Matt Tracy), Gregory Howlett, Stacey Howlett (David Rudoph) and Stephanie Fortus (nee Howlett) (Richard Fortus). He was a dear husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, lawyer and friend to many.

Services: Memorial visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. Not sure what to say?

Lived next door to Joyce where i grew up in Bridgeton. Joe helped me in the 70s when I was a young man. Great guy he was. RIP Joe.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Joe represented me a couple of times at the beginning of his daughters careers. I really enjoyed visiting with him and listening to both his professional and personal stories. Victoria M Duvall

I know this is so late, but this man meant the world to me. Loved him dearly. I will always miss him. Rest in peace Joe

Not many folks can say that most of their divorce process with the attorney was enjoyable but I so appreciated Joe's sense of humor and knowledge.

To the family and friends of Mr. Howlett. Watching a lawyer with zeal fight for the oppressed was the calling of Joseph Howlett. The many, many years of Shaw & Howlett showed a team that was second to none. God Bless Cynthia as she too will do the very best for the very least. Blessings.

My deepest condolences to the Howlett family. I had a couple of cases with Joe when I was first starting out and he treated me well, despite being very vocal about the shortcomings of one of my clients in particular. He was an accomplished, old school type of lawyer who always had a smile and friendly word when I would run in to him at the courthouse. He will be missed!

My memories of you are the best kind of memories....the ones that take me back to childhood. We are all so blessed to have grown up together in Bridle Creek, where all the magic happened. The adults all hanging out together and having epic parties (I still can't party like they did). The pool, The Farm get togethers, Thanksgiving, and just the natural love and camaraderie that we all shared and kept throughout our lives. Joe, you will always represent love to me for all of these reasons...

I was sorry to hear of the loss of Joe. We shared many fun times with Joe and Joyce during law school days in Columbia and later when we and they moved to St. Louis. You have my deepest sympathy.

Stephanie introduced me to her dad when I needed a divorce attorney. In addition to being kind and professional - who knew he would make the process less painful and in fact in some cases humorous. I feel honored that I got to see a glimpse into Joe Howlett. BTW - he passed on dating advise that he said was what he shared with his daughters as well. I enjoyed his wisdom and wit!
