Joseph “Eddy” Hudson Jr., 85, a native of Metairie, Louisiana, and a resident of Slidell, Louisiana for over 50 years, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Slidell.


Eddy was born January 23, 1939, in Metairie, to Joseph and Ruby Earline Hudson.


In 1960 he married Diane Patricia Mart in Metairie. Five weeks later he was drafted into the United States Army.  After his two-year enlistment, Eddy became a pipefitter with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #60.  


In the early 1960s he joined Square and Compass Lodge in New Orleans where he became a 32nd degree member.  In 1974, when the family moved to Slidell; Eddy became a member of Bayou Lacombe Lodge #459 F&AM, where he was Worshipful Master of the Lodge. He later joined Ocean Orleans Lodge#144 F&AM in Pearl River where he was also Worshipful Master of the Lodge. He was also District Deputy Grand Master 14th Masonic District and was highly involved with the Grand Lodge Dyslexia Program.


Eddy loved training and showing his Quarter Horses and was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell, and the Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA).


He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Hudson, Melvin Hudson: sisters, MaryAnne Littlejohn, and Patsy Saucier.


He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Diane Hudson; one daughter, Lisa H. Frederick (William); nieces, nephews, and other relatives.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, Louisiana, 70460.


Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the Masonic Ceremony and the Funeral Service at 11:00am.


Burial will be Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie.

Much sympathy to Lisa and Miss Diane as the loss of a "larger than life" character like Mr Eddie. He will be remembered and missed by all and family gatherings will not, quite be the same without him. Prayers and love!
