Not sure what to say?

This goes back to the 60s. We worked together at Nebraska Book Store and served in the Nebraska Air Guard. I have good memories of Joe. He was kind, thoughtful, and generous. He helped me a good writer of letters and stories. We played many hands of Hearts. Joe had a Rose planted iin Lincoln, Nebraska's Sunken Garden in memory of my mother, Marcella Elizabeth Mulligan Schmitz. May Our Lord bless and keep Joe in his loving arms.

I was Joe's classmate at Lincoln Southeast High School, class of 1960. It was obvious he would be successful in life even then, given his intelligence, drive and outgoing personality. He was a high achiever but also happy to see others succeed. Much to his credit and without fanfare, he nominated several classmates for the school's Distinguished Alumni award. Joe and I were pledge/ fraternity brothers (Beta Theta Pi) in 1960. I always enjoyed time spent with him. I was briefly a 2Lt in the Ne. ANG before transferring to the Ks. ANG. but was in Intel so I had little contact with Joe after college. I kept up with his progress thru Dr. John Hinrichs. I knew Joe would do well at the profession of his choice and was pleased to learn of his achieving the rank of LTC. I was sorry to learn of his passing.
