Fr. Joseph B. Kappes

I will always remember how loving Fr. Kappes was towards my daughter. She used to wave to him when he presided at Gesu, and she would run to him for a lift and hug whenever she saw him. He lovingly came back to Gesu to preside at the mass where she made her first communion. What a wonderful man!

When we moved to Cleveland, we joined Church of the Gesu. At the time, my daughter, Nelle, was 3, and she immediately fell in love with Fr. Kappes. She would wave to him when he was at the altar presiding at mass, and she was highly upset that he would not wave back to her! :-) However, he would always smile, then accept her joyfully into his arms in the narthex, lifting her, and engaging in a conversation just between Nelle and Fr.
